Radio-controlled model aircrafts, built to exact scale after manned originals, are one of the most amazing and wonderful disciplines in aeromodelling. Wherever these technically sophisticated  model airplanes take to the air, attention is guaranteed. Watching the model airplanes fly demanding typical maneuverers from the full scale brothers, those is a special treat for the old and young -- not only for aviation buffs!

From juli5 through july 14th, 2013, the best pilots and builders of scale airplanes from all over the world will meet at Meiringen Air Base, Switzerland.  Presenting and flying their scale models of famous aircrafts e.g. trainers and fighters, commercial aircrafts and biplanes, they compete at the highest competition held every two years, the FAI F4 Scale World Championship.

Built to exact scale, down to every rivet and screw, the model airplanes flown in Meiringen are hard to distinguish from their originals. Equipped with single and multiple cylinder engines, real working jet turbines, these model airplanes, weighing up to 15 kg (30 lbs), not only fly like the originals, they even leave the slight scent of kerosene for jet models, that is familiar from big airports and air shows.
